Sprout is currently holding discussions to determine the venue for the 2016 Cross-Pollinate Conference. Cross-Pollinate is an exciting opportunity for producers, customers, industry, businesses, researchers, government, non-for-profits and consumers to gather and share food and food production ideas and stories. Following promising feedback we have decided to host the conference in Hobart. The conference will be held over two days in August (the date will be confirmed) with a field day on the Sunday and conference and dinner on the Monday. The organising sub-committee welcomes ideas and feedback from members and can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last year Tasmanian food was explored through the theme “People, Place and Provenance”. Grant Hilliard gave a fantastic keynote presentation about his journey in recasting the role butchers play in connecting sustainable farmers with their markets. The theme was explored through the stories of Tasmanian primary producers, new government and non-government initiatives and discussions on the opportunities for producers and consumers in Tasmania through tourism and our niche markets. In a wonderful wrap-up to the conference, "People, Place and Provenance" was put into practice with a stunning dinner prepared by the talented Luke Burgess.
