Would you like to learn how to graft fruit trees? Be able to grow the types of fruit that you like in your garden orchard?
This is a grafting master class where Matthew Tack from Our Mates' Farm will lead us through all aspects of fruit tree grafting. Come along and learn through a hands on workshop.
Saturday 14th September, in Geeveston from 10am-3pm.
Matthew has been running Our Mates’ Farm, a commercial apple orchard in Geeveston, since 2013. He was taught to graft by two septuagenarian grafters and since learning has grafted hundreds of trees. He has a passion for grafting heritage fruit varieties and in the last 5 years Our Mates’ Farm has gone from 5 apple varieties to over 40, plus over 20 varieties of pears, stone fruit and cherries.
Learn about all fruit tree grafting and graft your own tree to take home with you. You’ll have the choice of apple, cherry or stone fruit trees. Matthew will have a wide variety of heritage, “regular” and cider apples to choose from for your own tree.
The course will cover the basics of:
- Variety and rootstock selection
- Collection scionwood for grafting
- Key grafting techniques

- Explanation of softwood grafting
You’ll be using a brand new Felco grafting knife which is yours to keep.
