The Farmer

Lisa and Luke moved to Tasmania in 2022 for a tree and trail change. Their farm is only a short ride on flowing singletrack from the world-renowned Derby mountain bike trails and the surrounding forests and mountains provide ample opportunity to spend time in nature. They are excited to be part of the Sprout Producer Programme in 2025 and be given the opportunity to learn, share and grow with the other participants.
Lisa is keenly aware of how important good food is to good health through her work as a family doctor and through her experience volunteering in a school kitchen garden programme while her children were growing up.
Luke is a lifelong food gardener and avid cook, with a background in permaculture design and natural resource management. He has worked in international agriculture development for the past 24 years, helping smallholder farmers in the Asia-Pacific region to improve their food security and livelihoods through sustainable farming practices.
The Farm
Nurture and Nourish is a four acre farm nestled on the edge of Branxholm village in the verdant rolling hills of north east Tasmania. Blessed with deep red volcanic soil and good rainfall, the farm supports a diversity of vegetables, berries, fruit, pasture, flowers, trees, poultry, and bees. We are in the early stages of expanding the farm from home production to providing nourishing food for our local community and visitors to the region. We focus on nurturing our soil, plants and animals using natural and regenerative farming practices, without the use of synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, or pesticides.
