the land access toolkit

In 2023, Sprout Tasmania received funding from the Tasmanian State Government (NRE) through the Strategic Industry Partnership Program (SIPP) to undertake a collaborative project focused on lease and share farming. This work led to the development of the Land Access Toolkit, designed to support farmers, landholders, and new entrants seeking practical pathways to secure land.

Through discussions with interstate organisations that had conducted similar work, we recognised an opportunity to expand the impact of the Land Access Toolkit by sharing resources nationally. In order to enable broader collaboration — including with Young Farmers Connect — we secured additional funding through the Sustainable Table Fund.

Published in 2024 and co-authored by Sprout Tasmania and Young Farmers Connect, this toolkit provides guidance, case studies, and practical tools to help farmers navigate land access arrangements. We also hosted a walkthrough webinar to support its release, which you can view here.

Help us understand who is using this resource and how it is supporting farmers and landholders. We invite you to answer the short questions below. The information collected helps improve future resources and support for the farming community.
