The Farmer

After a 30 year career in building design, endless hours staring at computer screens and battling bureaucracy and David yearned for a more meaningful lifestyle, outdoors in the “real world”. The tranquillity of the Tasman Peninsula ignited my passion for farming and working to improve the land I live on.

Currently a solo operator, I am working on building capacity for a team to share the workload and create opportunities for local employment.  My vision extends beyond farming, encompassing small-scale agrotourism experiences and educational workshops. By sharing my knowledge and passion, I hope to inspire others to embrace sustainable living and  care for their environment.

The Farm

Sounds Rivulet Farm is a budding small-scale mushroom farm nestled on the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Currently in the start-up phase we are gearing up to cultivate delicious, organic oyster mushrooms and other seasonal varieties.

Our unique approach focuses on low-energy, low-waste production, inspired by permaculture principles. We upcycle timber mill waste and forest debris, transforming them into valuable substrates for mushroom cultivation. We also turn invasive weeds and scrub into compost and biochar, This innovative “waste to recourse” method not only boosts soil health but also helps reducing fire hazards in our local community.

Being a farm in our infancy our mushrooms will become available from mid 2025 through local community food networks, food outlets, and soon at our on-site farm gate shop.
