Broom & Brine is a small market garden run by Grace Gamage and Dylan Lehmann on Melukerdee country in lutruwita/Tasmania. Working from just a quarter acre, they grow a diverse range of seasonal vegetables and herbs, guided by close observation of the land and the changing seasons.

Their approach to growing is grounded in care — for soil health, biodiversity, and the people doing the work. Using no-till, organic-inspired practices, Grace and Dylan focus on building resilient soils and a farming system that is both productive and sustainable over the long term.

Community sits at the heart of Broom & Brine. Alongside growing food, they actively share knowledge, support other small producers, and contribute to a more connected and ethical local food system. In 2024, Broom & Brine was recognised as Sprout Small Producer of the Year, a reflection of both the quality of their produce and the generosity with which they engage in Tasmania’s small-scale farming community. Congratulations Grace and Dylan!

Comments from their passionate supporters

“Broom and brine are incredibly inspiring folks, growing beautiful food for the local community. They are super generous mentors and coaches for other farmers and their support is amazing.”

Grace and Dylan’s produce is second to none. It would hold its own in any domestic or professional kitchen, anywhere in the world. Broom and Brine are providing an example of what is possible from small scale, thoughtful agriculture and being a part of their CSA box program has improved my cooking by proxy. It’s their year!

They grow the tastiest vegetables I’ve ever had. They’re an organic, no-till farm that cares about their impact on the environment, and furthermore have one of the best CSA websites I’ve used, with useful information and really interesting cultural histories of the crops they grow. Grace and Dylan are also just excellent humans who work hard to uplift their community!
